The name is inspired by Aldous Huxley's 1932 novel "Brave New World".A book widely considered one of the most important pieces of literature of the 20th century. The author believed that the totalitarian state of the future would create a prison of pleasure and gratification through the excessive use of technology and science. The book depicts a future society where people enjoy a seemingly endless stream of distractions and entertainment that provides them with enough dopamine to keep them happy all the time. In consequence they turn off their pursuit of meaning and do not question having their liberties taken away.
In 1958 Huxley stated:
“The prophecies made in the Brave New World are coming true much faster than I thought they would… The nightmare of total organization… is now awaiting us, just around the next corner.”
We chose to name this space A Bit New World because we see a lot of similarities between the two societies. If you are interested in a breakdown of major themes of the novel in comparison with today’s world, let us know.
We refuse to settle for dull pleasures of Netflix movies, Instagram likes or fast food and want to inspire a sense of personal responsibility, critical thinking and informed action on our parts. If there is one thing that heavily influences our actions, it is money. So let us take a deep dive on what money is and examine why Bitcoin offers us an opportunity to change human action for the better and escape the "Brave New World".
